Serena Williams outburst

The epic with the Serena Williams’ outburst has finally ended! Reportedly, the Grand Slam Committee has put Williams on two years’ probation and set a 175,000 dollars fine. Such a dramatic punishment is the result of Serena’s furious outburst upon a woman judge during the U.S. Open.

It is also reported that if in the next two years Williams commits another major offence, we won’t see her in the U.S. Open in 2010, 2011 or 2012. Also, the fine may be decreased to 82,500 dollars in case she doesn’t commit offences in 2011.

Meanwhile, the offence Williams has been punished for had place in September when the line judge called Serena for a foot foul. Shocked Williams raged at the judge. She shook a racket and ball and said to “shove it down” the woman’s throat. Later that day Serena made an official apology saying she “handled the situation poorly” but she refused to apologize to the line judge in person.

The verdict regarding the punishment was taken on Saturday when the committee responsible for grand slam events met to discuss the situation.

Meanwhile, there is nothing for it but to wait and see whether the irritable tennis star will do her best in not showing her temper again.
