While working on the movie Sister Act 2 Toby Ryan has met Lauryn Hill who later becomes an international star with the Fugees. Toby Ryan and Lauryn Hill still remained friends and when Wyclef Jeanbegan from the Fugees sought for new talents Lauryn recommended City High. All worked well except for Claudette Ortiz. However guys refused to leave her. Despite such a risky move, the trio got the contract with Interscope and made a loud debut with a successful album. However the point why those three are so resonant today is more about their private lives than music achievements.

Claudette Ortiz and Robby Pardio made an appearance on the A&E show telling about their relationship and tough break-up after which Pardio has fallen into deep depression involving seeking relief in alcohol. In the end in 2004 Claudette Ortiz married Ryan Toby. They had two sons. First was born in 2003 and second was born in 2005. Claudette Ortiz also has a baby daughter born in 2008; however her father is not Ryan Toby.

With all that messed-up professional and private life Claudette Ortiz still remains a talented singer that is sure to surprise us.

Grammy nomination 2010 - Beyonce

By the way, last year the Grammy founders and CBS channel decided to make out of a boring listing of the artists nominated for the awards a nice show. They called for pop and rock stars and organized a great performance.

It seems that this year the budget was rather limited. There were just a few performances. Probably, Black Eyed Peas were most memorable. As the host organizers have invited Ringo Starr and Smokey Robinson. The old pals gave a hug to each other on the stage and paid a few mutual jokes.

Apparently, the main award receiver next year will be 28-year-old Beyonce Knowles who already has seven Grammy. This time she can grab awards in the whole ten nominations, including the most prestigious “Record of the Year” and “Album of the Year“. Taylor Swift is nominated for eight nominations while ice-breaking Lady GaGa appeared in five nominations. Black Eyed Peas and Kanye West have received six nominations meanwhile only rockers to grab awards are “Kings Of Leon” with four nominations.

The entire event was airing live. However the West Coast didn’t see the fall as ABC had cut it out. Later she joked about the confusing moment telling she meant to fall as it was part of her performance.

However, nobody knows whether it was that funny backstage after it as Lopez is known for being a captious perfectionist. Maybe some of the dancers were fired… Well, there is no mention of it. Meantime, the Lopez’ comeback has been speculated for a while. However, there was nothing special in the performance. So, maybe exactly such unplanned fall made it really interesting.

Meanwhile Jennifer Lopez’s fall is making a net sensation at the moment starting with YouTube and ending with Twitter and Google.

All in all, Jennifer Lopez meant to hit the stage and, in fact, she did it in both literal and figurative senses.

Swift took all the four categories which she was nominated in, namely female vocalist of the year, the top selling CD of the year, album of the year and video of the year. Her phenomenal album “Fearless” is a real success. It was sold in three million copies. And it stays No. 3 in the music charts after 51 weeks!

When Swift was receiving the Female Vocalist Award, she was witty enough to poke fun at Kanye West who humiliated her earlier this year at VMA. She said she wanted to thank everybody for not rushing on stage to interrupt her speech.

Meanwhile, the show hosts Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley were entertaining the audience throughout the night starting with friendly badinage and ending with humour versions of classic hits. Apart from Swift the 2009 CMS Awards night was generous for Darius Rucker who became best new artist of the year. Brad Paisley was honored with the male vocalist of the year award. Meanwhile, Sugarland has received the duo of the year award. Finally, written by James Otto, Jamey Johnson and Lee Thomas Miller the track “In Color” became the song of the year. Congrats, guys!

Brian May has praised sound that Muse have incorporated into their new album that many listeners have observed as influenced by the sound of Queen. The musicians have met before at several events and Muse confessed that Queen’s music is an inspiration for their band. “They said they liked us and that we’ve been an influence, which is obviously nice for someone like me to hear,” recalled Brian.

The main track “United States of Eurasia” from the new album has drawn comparisons to classic Queen. In the recent interview, Muse drummer said he understood why people think their single, “United States Of Eurasia”, nods towards Queen. Dominic Howard said: “I guess people have thought it sounds a bit like Queen, particularly that big chord and the big harmonies”. Also Brian May described the track “United States of Eurasia” as “brilliantly done”.
