The phenomenon of Twitter becomes as catching as ever. Twitter goes dangerously global as among its “victims” are found both large international corporations and world political leaders.

Surely, like any other brand new net phenomenon Twitter has an ambiguous nature which means that it can be used either for good or bad.
Twitter is a nice way to learn new tendencies in anything that interests you. You may find soul mates to share your passions with, find out their opinions and follow their Internet discoveries. In other words, Twitter is a way of becoming closer. That is why, celebrities joining Twitter has grown into some kind of net fever. On the one hand, celebrities using Twitter may gain even more fans. On the other hand, all over the planet fans have now spotted a direct path to the latest thoughts and ideas of their idols.

It is also a problematic issue that lots of Twitterers do not twitter for themselves (apparently, Barack Obama is just too busy). Another issue points that the Twitter entries must inevitably be readable, to say the least (if you’ve happened to follow Britney Spears, you know perfectly what’s meant). In this respect, the most popular celebrities using Twitter are those who can write (obviously) and write about something. In this regard, recently published Times’ Top 50 featuring most followed celebrities using Twitter has cleared things about the service and how it works.

The list is topped by the British comedian Stephen Fry. Well, his entries are really funny and it is understandable why people follow him. Overall, if analyze this rating, it becomes rather clear that it is flooded by comedians. John Cleese, Jonathan Ross, Jimmy Fallon, Russell Brand, Jimmy Carr, Rob Brydon are just a few names. So, what do we want from Twitter? To all appearance, we want to be entertained.

Now becoming totally mainstream Twitter seems to go up at pacing rates. Similarly, it seems that Twitter is nothing else than another bandwagon that everyone including celebrities jump on. Anyway, let’s lend it some time. Meantime, what was the latest John Hodgman’s entry?
