2009 CMA awards

Ultimately and undoubtedly the 2009 CMA Awards were swept by young Taylor Swift. Impressively enough, this 19 year old princess-like blond made a history. She became the youngest artist winning the Country Music Associations award as the entertainer of the year. What is more, now she is the first female that grabbed this award since Shania Twain ten years ago in 1999 as well as the youngest winner at the CMA awards ever. The night was kicked off by her performing “Forever & Always” following by the young star’s apogee.

Swift took all the four categories which she was nominated in, namely female vocalist of the year, the top selling CD of the year, album of the year and video of the year. Her phenomenal album “Fearless” is a real success. It was sold in three million copies. And it stays No. 3 in the music charts after 51 weeks!

When Swift was receiving the Female Vocalist Award, she was witty enough to poke fun at Kanye West who humiliated her earlier this year at VMA. She said she wanted to thank everybody for not rushing on stage to interrupt her speech.

Meanwhile, the show hosts Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley were entertaining the audience throughout the night starting with friendly badinage and ending with humour versions of classic hits. Apart from Swift the 2009 CMS Awards night was generous for Darius Rucker who became best new artist of the year. Brad Paisley was honored with the male vocalist of the year award. Meanwhile, Sugarland has received the duo of the year award. Finally, written by James Otto, Jamey Johnson and Lee Thomas Miller the track “In Color” became the song of the year. Congrats, guys!
